Puerto Rican Bomba dance
Las Fiestas de la calle San Sebastian is one huge street party similar in spirit to Carnival in Brazil. There is a lot of revelry, costumes, music, and spontaneous dancing. In this video, a woman from the crowd spontaneously dances the Puerto Rican Bomba with drummer Jesus Cepeda playing complex rhythms. At the same time, the drummer never takes his eyes off the dancer who with her steps and body movements communicates to the lead drummer what accented rhythms he might place in response to her dance.
